Поход - Big Santa Anita Canyon Hiking

Dear friends!

On behalf of Russian School of OC Hiking Club we would like to invite you to join for our school hike!

It will take place on Sunday, November 23 at beautiful Big Santa Anita Canyon, weather permitting. Please come to enjoy amazing views and autumn’s colorful foliage in one of the nicest hiking in Southern California!  Please feel free to bring all your family and friends!

We're planning on about 4 miles with around 2000 ft elevation change. We’ll take the trail that take us to the Sturtevant Falls, it’s an easy hike so kids all ages are very welcome!

More info about trail and Big Santa Anita Canyon area:

Starting point - Chantry Flat Parking Lot and Trail Head

Forest Service Adventure Pass ($5.00) is required, it’s sold at the Pack Station (or at any Ranger Station).
The Pack Station is just above the last parking lot. Canyon has limited parking, there are only 3 lots. In case you find the lots completely filled, parking is  allowed on the road but each car MUST be entirely behind the white lane or it will be ticketed by the
Forest Service. There is often parking available at the pack station for a $5.00 fee, and an Adventure Pass is not required to park there.

It’s expected to be tricky so please allow enough time to arrive.

10:30 am to 11:00 am – meet near Pack Station
11:00 am - start the hike to the Sturtevant Falls

Please bring lot of water, some snack - we will have a good place near falls to rest, eat and socialize. :)
In total, it will take about 4 hrs (including scenic stops and a lunch break).

Please wear comfortable shoes, layered clothes, hat.

There is no cell phone reception or it’s very low in the area.  We will have walkie-talkie set to channel 7.

Please contact Marina Shishlyaeva, marina.vyazova@gmail.com to let me know if you are coming or if you have questions.
Hope to see you there!
